Great clubs are not built in a season. They are shaped over decades through stewardship, tradition, and an unwavering commitment to member experience.

Country Club Recruiting’s Traditional Country Club Division focuses on identifying executive and senior-level talent for private clubs where legacy, service standards, and operational excellence must work together.

Division Lead

David Fischer

Managing Director, Traditional Country Club Division

David Fischer’s connection to the private club industry began long before executive search. Raised in country club communities, he developed an early appreciation for the traditions, service standards, and member experiences that define exceptional clubs.

As a teenager, David entered the industry as a cart attendant, gaining firsthand exposure to the operational discipline and culture required to deliver a premier member experience. Following service in the United States Air Force, he returned to the private club industry and embarked on a career that would span nearly every level of club operations.

Over the next two decades, David advanced through a wide range of roles, including outside operations, golf services, instruction, golf operations management, Assistant Golf Professional, Head Golf Professional, and club leadership positions. His career culminated in senior leadership roles at multiple private clubs, including a distinguished 36-hole private country club in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he oversaw golf operations, clubhouse performance, staff leadership, member engagement, and overall club operations.

Having personally served in many of the positions he now recruits for, David brings a perspective that few executive search professionals can offer. He understands the realities of private club leadership from firsthand experience and recognizes the qualities that distinguish exceptional club professionals from their peers.

Following his transition into executive search, David spent more than a decade advising organizations on leadership selection and talent strategy, placing senior leaders, department heads, and executives across a variety of industries. His ability to evaluate leadership capability, organizational fit, and long-term potential has made him a trusted advisor to both private organizations and executive teams nationwide.

David also serves as a consultant with 59club, conducting operational assessments and performance evaluations for private clubs throughout North America. Through this work, he continues to evaluate club operations, service delivery, member experience, and leadership effectiveness at some of the industry’s most respected clubs.

Today, David combines more than two decades of private club leadership experience with executive search expertise to help country clubs identify and attract the leaders responsible for preserving traditions, elevating member experiences, and strengthening the long-term success of their organizations.

Philosophy

Tenure, not turnover.

We measure success by longevity, cultural fit, and the long-term strength of the club community — not just by filling a role quickly.
